Bemerton project - Stage II -Youth house
- Form follows location -
On the surface, the Bemerton Project presents a classic cliche : rebelious teens in a tough council estate.
However, a closer look reveals an untapped potential of a vibrant subculture that usesthe estate and its urban features as a stage.
The proposal re-imagines the conventional Youth House, as a hub for idea and skill exchange. A place, where local craftspeople step in to inspire and share their skills, connecting with youmg people on their terms, - not teaching - but sparking curiosity and creativity.
By chanelling the raw energy of the subculture and moving away from ‘schooling authority’, this project turns a cliche into an opportunity.
